Outdoor Flood Lights
As the name suggests, these are lights that are used outdoors and provide lighting for huge areas. Outdoor flood lights are usually located high up so that they can flood down light without obstruction from trees or tall buildings. These kinds of lights are just one of several types that are used outdoors.
The main reason for choice of these lights is to provide security especially at night when it is dark. The bright light they provide serve well to discourage predators from preying into private as well as public properties and areas. Flood lights also help the security personnel manning a place be able to monitor any movements as seen on CCTV. The cost of having these lights might be a bit on the higher side as flood lights are meant to light up a place all through the night. Because of their bright nature in order to provide enough illumination, the power bills may end up surging upwards. Before you let this be a deterrent factor, it would be good to weigh the pros and cons of having or not having these lights. What would be the cost of saving up on electricity bills by not having the flood lights? Can you safely do away them? This might be an option if you live in a relatively secure area that has ample lighting from street lights and therefore make it unnecessary to put on your own flood lights. In other cases, it might actually be more expensive not to have flood lights. This is especially so if the risk of not lighting up a place is too high. Can you compare the loss of valuables to a burglary that would have otherwise been thwarted if there were lights on with the savings made on the bills?
If dealing with a public area, the residents of that place would feel more secure walking around at night if the area is well illuminated. The need for these kinds of lights may be very high and necessary; more so if you are talking of preventing crimes that can be fatal such as murder or devastating ordeals including rape and robbery with violence.
The invention of flood lights can be said to be such a genial thing in my opinion. This is because it seems more advantageous to have them than not to
